Researching the internship
Due to the current world situation, finding an internship is not so easy. I absolutly wanted to find an internship in the marketing department because it is something I like. I wanted to use my knowledge and learn more to reinforce my belief that it is in this field that I have to work for.
The destination of the internship was not for me something important because I believe that every experience is good to take and we must seiez every opportunity that we met. By the way, there is a proverb from Lamartine which reflects this idea :
"There is no more entire Man than the one who travels a lot, who has changed twenty times the shape of his thought and of his life."
To find my internship , I had to use different tools :
- Database of the school listing the courses already completed
- Websites offering internship offers
- Websites teaching
The feedback from companies through websites was no conclusive. Indeed, most companies are looking for an intern for a 6 months' period and they want him to have a degree.
Regarding the school network, the proposals didn't suit me so I continued my research hoping to find the perfect internship offer.
After 3 months, I finally find the perfect internship. I was accepted in the subsidiary of the Linde Group based in Athens and more precisely Mandra.
Linde is an international group specialized in the areas of Gas and Engineering. After contacting the HR department, I could formalize the internship through the internship agreement. I also learn more about how the internship is going to be and the missions I will face.
I am now proud to say that I am a trainee in the field of marketing and communication in a large industrial group.
The accomodation
I felt liberated myself from a weight because I had finally found an internship and especially an internship that met my expectations. But this lasted few times later. I should solve now the housing problem. Three months is a long time, I only had one month to accomodate myself!
In Greece, the economic situation is not one of the most favorable if we might say and it is the same for the real estate market. Few apartments are available and therefore the prices are high.
Often, prices differ and it is difficult not to be fooled.
I will stay for a short time at an employee's apartment who receives me in his womeplace wainting for me to find an apartment. I intend to play it safe by using a real estate agency to make sure not to be trapped by donors who wants to take advantage of the economic situation.

The travel
And here I am, ready to go on an new adventure, fraught of suitcases but mainly enthusiasm. Nevertheless, I have several feelings.
On the one hand I'm really excited to discover this country, its culture, customs, and leaving a new experience but then I fear how I will bear the separation with my family, friends and my daily life.

Only time will tell me . In the meantime I leave confident but especially impatient to see what this country has to offer.
