LETS TALK GOOD, LETS TALK FOOD

Greek Food

Greek cuisine, typically Mediterranean, is worldwide known for the quality of its products. Greek dishes vary according to each region (Athens, Thessaloniki, islands, Crete ...) and are very close to the Turkish cuisine.
I decided to share a few specialties that I had the opportunity to discover during my adventure and that are not necessarily the best known (so I will spare you the description of the famous Greek salad).

                        Tzatziki
Tzatziki? τζατζίκι ?But what is it?

This is a Greek and Turkish delicious meze, eaten with anything!

Tzatziki is made of yogurt (obviously) mixed with cucumber and crushed garlic without forgetting to add the famous olive oil.

The tzatziki goes well with fresh bread, potatoes or even with "Keftedes" (minced meat with a pellet form).

Note that it is generally eaten as an appetizer with pita bread and olives.

I had the opportunity to taste it with potatoes while enjoying a Souvláki.

                                                                                                                                                                      S                                                                                                                   Souvláki

The Souvláki, my greatest discovery here in Greece!
And fortunately for me, you can have one in almost everycorner of streets !

It is composed of small pieces of meat (you can choose) and served with vegetables and the famous Tzatziki!

This is a dish that can take different forms. It can be, as in the photo, wrapped with a pita or "place" served on a plate.

Yes, it can be served on a skewer to be consumed on the run, in a pita or on a plate with garnish.

Everyone has his own way to enjoy his Souvláki !

Greek desserts

You have a choice, sweet or light?

  • Sweet : Pastries!

You are greedy, you're right. Greek pastries are the height of indulgence! Did I already say that the Greek cuisine was similar to oriental cuisine?

I have the opportunity to prove it by describingYou can see it through the  Baklava or even the Kadaifi.

But Greece is not fully imbued with Turkish heritage. Indeed, for the rest, you can cross the Rizogalo (Rice with cinnamon flavored milk) or Halva (sesame cream), Galaktobouréko et Revani which are semolina.

  • Light : The Greek Yogurt!

The ideal place to enjoy a real yogurt is... Greece!

A real yogurt is consistent and rich in lactose and tasty and Greeks are the experts, this is well known. Take a walk in Athens, you will find many "yogurt bars" but be careful, don't be too generous on the garnish of your yogurt, in which case the adjective light becomes questionable !
